Herbalism belongs to the gathering professions in WoW. If you just started leveling your char, leveling Herbalism along the way will bring no problems. Even if you choose to learn it at level 80, it will pose no problems, as you will be able to level it up for just a few hours.

What is Herbalism all about?

Herbalism involves gathering different kinds of herbs all around the map. So what exactly you can do with herbs? Herbs can be sold in stacks as a raw material on the Auction House. Still, combining Herbalism with appropriate crafting profession such as Alchemy or Inscription will enable you to make a profitable source of income.

An Alchemist uses herbs in order to create various flasks, potions and elixirs. All these are used by many different classes in the purpose of enhancing the overall performance, especially while in an instance or raid.

Wrath of the Lich King expansion introduced the new profession – Inscription. A Scribe is able to make different kinds of glyphs that are also used to enhance some important characteristics and abilities of any class. Herbalism is a good match for Inscription since one will require stacks of herbs to create different types of inks used for inscriptions.

How the herbs can be found?

It is simple. Herbs are to be found everywhere on the map. Still, some zones are considered as ?dry? with only a few, if any, herbs in them while others are known for their richness. With the ability to Find Herbs you will be able to track herbs on your minimap. If you would like to have a record of the herbs you have already picked up then try using an addon such as The Gatherer. Gatherer will keep record of the herbs picked up by any of your party or guild members who have installed the same add-on.

Benefits of Herbalism

Herbalism will grant you new ability – Lifeblood. It is an instant, mana-free ability, granting a powerful overtime heal. However, this ability has a three minute cooldown. While leveling, this ability can come in handy especially for classes without any healing abilities.

Also, you will be saving considerable amounts of gold on flasks, elixirs and potions. Since these are a necessity you can choose to make your own or sell the stacks of herbs on the AH for a nice amount of gold. When it comes to herb farming, it is quite easy, even though players, who are in possession of a faster flying mount, have always an advantage in speed.

Choosing Herbalism according to your class

Are there any particular classes who are considered to be suitable for herbalism? The answer to this question is, no. Choosing Herbalism as a profession is solely your choice, however, keep in mind that some classes need it more than other classes.

Healers and tanks are choosing herbalism most often, because they most often need flasks and potions. The only class that might be faster in gathering herbs compared to others is the Druid class since they have an instant flying form. This makes herb farming for Druids considerably faster.

Useful accessories

When you start to gather herbs you will think that your normal bags are good enough. Think twice! Soon you will have no room at all. However, this problem is easily solved with the help of Tailors who can make special Herbal bags. These special bags offer more space in the form of extra bag slots.
