Oakland International airport is the latest U.S. airport authorized to offer non-stop charter flights to Havana as early as December, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
It joins a growing list of U.S. airports -- including Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Baltimore, Los Angeles, Miami and New York -- to offer the route.
The authorization follows the Obama administration's relaxation in January of restrictions on academic and religious travel to the island nation.
The charter flights to Havana's Jose Marti International Airport will be conducted through a partnership with Cuba Travel Services of Long Beach.
The travel service is in talks with a number of airlines, including Spirit, Southwest and JetBlue, to fly the route.
